Saint James’ Chit Chat: Act of kindness to the elderly
DESPITE the cold winds and rain pelting down youngsters from Field court infant academy braved the storm to sing to elderly people at Saint James’ Chit Chat on Thursday, February 23.
Also as part of the schools random act of kindness week the school presented the Rector Fr. John Ward with a story book, written by the youngsters telling the adventures of Cedric, Fr. John’s puppet fox and Seamus the Rector’s pet dog. Youngsters made bird feeders to hang in the church yard for the wild birds.
The youngsters sang a medley of songs that the local residents enjoyed and lasted well over half an hour.
Local resident Lovell Cornwall said ‘It was a pleasure to hear the youngsters sing and really brightened up the morning’.
Fr. John Ward commented ‘The school performed very well and I am very grateful for the story book and bird feeders. I’m looking forward to hearing about the further adventures of Seamus and Cedric when I next visit the school”
Zoe Carciero Head teacher of Field Court Academy said ‘ Last year we presented the church with a banner, this year we thought we’d do something different. Our ‘Random act of kindness week’ was a great success as youngsters visited GP surgeries , residential homes and other organisations in the community to say ‘Thank You’ and to show they care. But at Field Court Academy random acts of kindness aren’t just displayed for one week in the year, we encourage our youngsters to think of others all year round”.
