Nailsworth & District Flower Arrangement Society

OUR March meeting as usual commenced with the AGM and was well attended.

In the absence of any new nominations the existing committee was re- elected.

Members were reminded that there would be no change to the £30 membership fee due at the April Meeting when the programme for the coming year will also be available.

The competitions cup for the year was presented to Elaine Bushby and garden vouchers were given to runners up Rose Grant and Margaret Ganner.

Emily Broomhead third of four generations of flower arrangers and a National demonstrator from Salisbury took the stage with her theme “In Print”.

Emily had chosen Beatrix Potter books as the theme for her designs.

She interpreted the woodland scene from The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin in a beautiful birch bark container with chocolate coloured anthiriums, peach mini gerberas and genesta.

Her second book, Mr Jeremy Fisher, was in the form of a symmetrical triangle shape with pussy willow, green chrysanthemums and prada carnation off set with lime green anthiriums and white genesta.

The Taylor of Gloucester in contrast was a myriad of red roses, dianthus, mini gerbera, hypericum and cornus in a brushed steel container.

Mrs Tiggywinkle, her fourth choice, was a textured design in shades of orange.

For her fifth and final design Emily made a vertical arrangement of pink anthiriums, purple/blue iris, pink mini gerberas, blue hyacinths, and deep pink tulips.

From her wonderful presentation designs and flowers it is easy to see why Emily has been chosen to represent NAFAS in Barbados in June.

Our next meeting is on April 5, in Nailsworth Town Hall at 7.30pm.

Visitors and new members are always welcome.
