Stroud and District Women's Conservative Luncheon Club with Canon Garland on the meanings of Christian names and place names
AT OUR March luncheon, the chairman Wendy Cannon told us the sad news that a well loved member Joan Haines had suddenly passed away.
The speaker, The Revd Canon Michael Garland led everyone in prayer in memory of Joan.
Afterwards, Canon Garland gave a most interesting talk on the meanings of Christian names and also place names.
He started with Biblical names right up to modern day ones.
He ended his talk with some amusing word play.
Wendy Canon thanked Canon Michael for his presentation.
Our next luncheon is on April 13 at 12noon for 12.30pm.
Anyone interested should ring Wendy Canon on 01453 886644.
