On Friday, March 31, players and staff from Forest Green Rovers FC came to Stonehouse Park Infant School to officially open the new entrance to the school.

This building project was funded through a suitability grant from Gloucestershire County Council.

The extension has improved the security of the school for children, staff and families.

The additional space has provided a bigger admin office and learning spaces.

The school plans to create a new library in the centre of the building later this year.

The children enjoyed meeting the players and staff.

They even got to play football with them!

The Forest Green Rovers FC players and staff were very impressed by the behaviour of the children, and the warm welcome they received from staff and governors.

They said “Wow, this is a lovely school!”.

All at Stonehouse Park Infant School are looking forward to building a closer partnership with Forest Green Rover FC in the future.

Rachel Edwards, headteacher said “Forest Green are a family friendly football club wanting to be at the heart of their community and this is how we view our school in Stonehouse”.

We would like to say a special thank you to three of our Y2 pupils; Cole Smith, Daniel Parker and Zac Thompson, for giving the Forest Green players and staff a tour of our school.

They were also interviewed by BBC Radio Gloucestershire along with our Chair of Governors, Paul Stephens.
