Cainscross WI: A cheese and wine evening

WE HAD nearly a ‘full house’ for our early April meeting with a couple of visitors and only one apology from Dot Brunning.

Dot was not feeling well enough to attend, and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Margaret Adams supplied some very pretty table flowers of spray carnations in yellow and oranges, arranged in a little terracotta pot.

We dealt with the usual business of Minutes, Treasurer’s Report and some correspondence and also listened to a small report from June Bendall, who had recently attended the Annual Council Meeting.

She enjoyed the talks and it sounded a good day out.

Val Dalby, who is masterminding our entry for this year’s Stroud Show in July, updated us on progress so far.

We then enjoyed our Cheese & Wine Evening and put our thinking caps on for the quizzes that Pam Clapp had prepared for us.

It was very good of her to set these quizzes, especially as she had prizes available for both the winning and losing teams.

It was a very pleasant evening all round and we thank Pam for her hard work.

Doreen, our President, also put in a lot of hard work with the preparation of the food for the evening and we give her a vote of thanks as well.

Our next meeting, will take place on Tuesday, May 2, as usual in St. Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross starting at 7.15pm.

This meeting will be the Resolutions one, followed by our annual ‘fun’ mini-auction.

This is always the place to grab a bargain or three!

Visitors and new members are always very welcome to join us and I hope to see you there.
