Randwick Gardening Club: Orchids - Care and Cultivation with Mr T Price

RANDWICK Gardening Club held its second meeting of 2017 in the village hall on Tuesday, April 11.

The meeting was opened by the chairman Stuart Gregory who welcomed a new member also a new committee member Margaret Wheatley.

He reminded members to save plants for the stall at the Randwick Wap on Saturday, May 13.

A trip has been arranged to the Miserden garden centre on Wednesday, May 3.

Stuart than introduced the speaker for the evening Mr T Price whose talk was Orchids - Care and Cultivation.

This was a very interesting and informative talk punctuated by wonderful examples of several different orchids of various colours and sizes.

Mr Price also re-potted orchids for members revealing what compost he uses and explaining their country of origin and habitat.

The raffle was won by Sandra Seed and Ann Adams.

At the time of writing there are still a few places available on our two day trips.

On Thursday, June 29, we are travelling to Broughton Castle Gardens near Banbury, a medieval/Tudor moated manor house gardens.

There will be time in Banbury for lunch. Our second trip is to The Laskett Garden, Much Birch, Herefordshire on Thursday, July 27.

It is a stunning four acre garden.

There will be time in Hereford for lunch.

The cost of each trip is £22 and pick-up points are Nailsworth Bus Station at 9.15am and Tricorn House, Cainscross at 9.30am.

The cost is £2.50 for visitors and £11p.a. for membership.
