Cainscross WI: A mini - auction

MOST members were back for the May meeting, but we did have apologies from Mandy, Tina, Kate, Dot and Georgie.

We also had one visitor attend and hope she visits us again.

Linda, our Treasurer, had arranged some lovely pink clematis and dwarf syringa in a pretty little vase for us as table flowers.

For the first part of the evening, we dealt with the usual business and discussed correspondence received and some details of the forthcoming visit, for our July Birthday Party evening, when we hope to visit a village between Evesham and Worcestershire and have a supper provided by a WI in the area.

Final details will be discussed at the June meeting.

After this, we had our usual annual fun ‘mini-auction’ which was indeed fun with members bidding against each for the best bargain.

The bargains included scarves, handbags, jewellery, books, plants and bric-a-brac etc.

We raised a good sum to help bolster our coffers for the forthcoming year.

We ended as usual with refreshments and calling of the raffle.

Our next meeting, which will take place as usual in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross, will be on Tuesday, June 6, and will include a talk by Lorna Brookes on ‘Bookbinding’.

The competition will be for ‘A display of flowers’.

This should be an interesting evening which will start at 7.15pm and as usual visitors/new members will be made very welcome.

As already stated, we will be away from the hall on the first Tuesday of July for our outing, but back again on Tuesday, August 1, in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross.
