Swinging and Dancing with The JP Brass AllStars

THE JP Brass AllStars are putting the band back together and, boy, can these guys swing!

The band grew out of a pub conversation – great start to their biopic!

You may know them as the stars of the Fringe weekend Beer and Music Festival at the Queen Vic since 2015, wowing audiences with their take on rock legends such as Tom Jones, Madness, ABBA, Queen and many more.

Well, they’re back and this time they’re jazzing it up!

The band director and one of the founders, Paul McLaughlin said “the original aim was to bring great music to people who had either never heard a brass band in full flight before, or had a clear idea of what that meant – Hovis adverts, hymns and marches! I think we changed a lot of people’s views on what a brass band can do and this weekend is set to change those views again!”

Drawn from some of the finest bands in the south of the UK, they are a combination unlike any other you’ll see this weekend.

Big band classics including Opus 1, Skyliner, Basin St Blues, Sing Sing Sing, Lady Is A Tramp and many more will get you on your feet, so dust off the dancing shoes and give your soul a treat.

McLaughlin said “with ten trumpets, four horns, four trombones, four tubas and a two man percussion section, what can go wrong!”

If you like jazz – you’ll love them! If you like brass bands, you’ll love them! If you don’t think you like jazz or brass bands – you’ll love them (just think of it as folk music, because, as Louis Armstrong said – ain’t all music folks’ music; I ain’t never heard no horse sing a song!)
