Eastcombe WI: Resolutions

MEMBERS who went on the Lincoln trip in April enjoyed an action packed five days with excellent food and hotel accommodation.

Unfortunately the weather was decidedly cold, but good-humour shone through.

Congratulations to our two Quiz teams who came first and third, winning them a place in the next round.

The NGS Open Gardens event this year enjoyed record attendances with takings nearing £4,000, of which some £800 was raised on refreshments.

Thanks were received for all who played a part in pulling off a much-enjoyed County Walk from Eastcombe Scout Hall on May 13.

The walk leaders and backers, those who organised car parking, set up tables and chairs, provided floral decorations, and those who served up a superb lunch to some 75 walkers – no mean feat - but brilliantly executed.

Next in the calendar of events for members will be a Skittles evening on May 24, always great fun.

The meeting swiftly launched into overviews and discussion on the two WI Resolutions which will be taken to the Annual Meeting in June for final voting:

Plastic Soup – Keep microplastic fibres out of our oceans, and

Alleviating Loneliness

This democratic process enables WI members to join together to make a real difference on important issues such as establishing the NHS cervical cancer screening programme.

The evenings refreshments, for a change, were cheese and wine and discussions continued.

Finally, on behalf of Eastcombe, Bisley, Brimscombe, France Lynch and Oakridge WI’s, you are cordially invited to come along and enjoy fun for all the family at our

Group Summer Fete on June 10, 2-5pm at Eastcombe Scout Hall.

There will be stalls with jewellery, books, craft items, cakes, tombola, refreshments and much, much more.
