Leonard Stanley Wine Circle with Paul Evans' poems, readings and amusing short stories

A BEAUTIFUL warm evening for our May meeting and we could have all the windows and door open!

Unfortunately some members were on holiday, sick or decided to enjoy the evening sun at home.

However we had a reasonable attendance and David opened the meeting by having a minutes silence in memory of the recent tragic event in Manchester.

Business was swift, with a request for members going to Swindon Dog Racing on July 26 to let Sue have their cheques, and reminding us that it was a 5pm coach start from the village hall.

We were also reminded of the Christmas Dinner, which this year is going to be a Carvery at the George, Frocester on the evening of December 20 at a cost of £20 per person.

He then introduced our speaker Paul Evans who entertained us for an hour with poems, readings, amusing short stories etc.

Paul is a gifted performer who had us in fits at some of the stories and poems he told us.

We could all relate to the ones on being grandparents and ‘When I was a Boy’.

Afterwards we enjoyed our usual supper before making our way home.

The annual Garden Party is on June 28 at The Grange, the home of Fiona and David Turner.

Just hope the weather will be sunny and hot!
