Stroud Wine Circle find success at the Wales and West Wine Festival

ON THE May Day weekend the annual Wales and West Wine Festival was held at Torquay, where clubs from England and Wales meet to take part in this competition hoping they have the winning wines and will go home with cups and rosettes and Stroud were one of these.

Not many went from Stroud but we came away with five cups and twenty-one rosettes.

Dave Marlow had three first and six places, his wife Brenda and two first and a place.

Fred Gilpin had a first and seven places and Neil Gow had a place.

We came away taking second place with East Coker being the champions.

Dave Marlow also came away Second Master Winemaker.

Well done Dave well done Stroud.

The following Saturday, Stroud held their dance combined with their wine festival where clubs from Gloucestershire come along and enter wines.

Stroud won the wine classes, Brockworth won the beer class and Stroud were the overall winners and won the champion cup.

Well done Stroud.

Any winemakers who would like to join us will be made welcome.

We meet at the Stonehouse Community Centre and our next meeting is on June 28 at 7.45pm.
