Leonard Stanley WI with speaker Angela Panrucker who showed slides and talked about Quaint & Quirky Gloucestershire

A NICE warm afternoon and it was great to see members in summer clothes.

After the initial business side, Maureen gave details of the Plant Sale organized by Jill and Robert Hutchings which had again been very successful and raised £1,400 for various charities.

Our WI helped out with teas, door and raffle for this very worthwhile event.

Thanks to all who contributed in any way.

The monthly lunch at the Italian in Stonehouse was again much enjoyed and on June 28, members will be having a cream tea at the Whitminster Hotel.

There is no meeting as such in July, but we will be holding our Ploughman’s lunch in the village hall at 12.30pm on July 10.

Some of us are going to see the King and I at the Cotswold Playhouse on the afternoon of June 17 kindly organised by Ann and are looking forward to it.

Maureen went through the Newsletter and pointed out items of interest.

Chris gave a report on the NFWI Annual Conference in Liverpool which she attended as a delegate and represented Frocester and Stonehouse WIs.

Members were told that both the Resolutions were passed with no changes to their wording.

They were ‘Alleviating loneliness ‘ and the other ‘Plastic soup : keep microplastic fibres out of our oceons.,’

She then went through various correspondence and notices.

Mary gave a detailed Financial Report showing a healthy bank balance.

Our speaker was Angela Panrucker who showed slides and talked about Quaint & Quirky Gloucestershire.

This was an extremely interesting subject and we saw and learnt quite a lot about our county that we did not know existed, some of which were quite amusing.

Angela always has her camera with her to take something different and was an excellent speaker, clear and articulate – her husband Terry does the driving as she is a non driver and must have covered hundreds of miles.

She does other talks, so no doubt will see her again.

Our competition was for an amusing poem and we were entertained by various members who read out their choice. Needless to say we all had a good laugh

As previously mentioned, it will be our Annual Lent lunch on July 10.
