Young Fashion Designer Midlands Region Competition Final

TWO Textiles and Fashion designers, Pippa Newport for GCSE and Sophie Willis for AS represented Stroud High School in the final of the ‘Young Fashion Designer of the Year 2107’ (YFD UK) competition on Saturday, June 24.

We all arrived bright and early to set up our displays of both design and practical work at ‘The Royal Grammar School’ in Worcester along with the five other finalists from GCSE and AS and the six A2 Finalists.

After having their static displays judged, the girls were interviewed by two panels of judges made up of a range of industry professionals to discuss their work.

The girls were also given a presentation by two former winners currently studying Fashion and Textiles at university and took part in a t-shirt upcyclying workshop.

Prizes were presented at 2pm and we were thrilled when it was announced that Sophie had received third prize for her AS entry and Pippa gained second place for her GCSE work both of which is an incredible achievement as the standard was extremely high in all categories.

They received great prizes including Textile equipment from the sponsors Morplan.
