Randwick Gardening Club with speaker Paul Green from 'Green Leaves' nursery

ON TUESDAY June 13, Randwick Gardening Club held its monthly meeting in the village hall.

In the absence of chairman Stuart Gregory the meeting was opened by recently retired chairwoman Iris Perry.

She thanked all those who helped make the stall at the Randwick Wap a great success, then asked for a show of hands if interested in a visit to Longfield.

Due to illness the speaker for the July meeting cannot attend, instead a video of last year's trips will be shown followed by a Bring & Buy sale.

Iris then introduced the speaker for the evening Mr Paul Green from 'Green Leaves' nursery.

Unfortunately it is not open to the public as he does shows and talks.

He gave a very amusing light hearted and informative talk 'Weird and Wonderful Plants' which were offered for sale afterwards.

The raffle was won by Colin Francis, Val Flack and Linda Foreman.

At the time of writing there are still a few places left on our trip to The Lasketts Garden, Much Birch, Herefordshire on Thursday, July 27.

It is a stunning four acre garden.

The cost of the trip is £22 and pick-up point is Tricorn House, Cainscross at 9.30am.

To book phone Betty Clark on 01453-751796 or Ann Adams on 01453-758353.

On June 29, we went on a trip to Broughton Castle stopping en route at Banbury.

The castle is a medieval manor house later transformed into a Tudor mansion, surrounded by a wide moat and parkland.

The one acre garden includes a walled formal garden and herbaceous borders containing old rose varieties and shrubs.

All are welcome to our meetings held in the Randwick Village Hall on the second Tuesday in the month at 7.30pm excluding January, February and August.

The cost is £2.50 for visitors and £11 for an annual membership.

You will get a complementary cup of tea or coffee and biscuits and a 10 per cent discount on the purchase of plants and garden sundries at Pound Farm, Whaddon.
