Upton St Leonard’s WI with Mandy Osborne from Boots chemist

ARISE, shine and look beautiful, a template if ever there was one for us ladies to think about and put into practise.

Our glamorous speaker Mandy Osborne from Boots chemist gave an interesting talk on the ‘Clarins’ products created in 1954 by Jacques Courtin who later added the name ‘Clarins’ to his family name because as a school boy he played the character ‘Clarins’, enjoyed it and felt it was a good luck charm.

Jacques made his own treatment oils that he claimed, firmed and toned the skin, selling them from his Paris salon.

Clarins is the first company to market natural, plant based extracts into their products.

Botanists and scientists toured the world researching plant life, finding in certain countries as in Madagascar the ‘Harungana’ tree enhanced reforestation.

The plants reddish, orange sap helps relive skin conditions, also restores and replenishes the skin.

The Montpellier rock rose from Spain can be used to treat various skin diseases, also slowing down melanin production, also reducing dark spots linked to age.

Samples were tried on our ladies and they certainly felt good on the skin.

Marlene was an excellent model, nearly dozing off!!

The plant based products spoke for themselves.

Jacques Courtin-Clarins quoted, “I created Clarins with love, so every woman can feel happier in her skin and more beautiful every day”.

Mandy was warmly applauded and model Marlene gave a vote of thanks after her relaxing facial treatment.

Business was brief as president Diane Thomas welcomed everyone.

‘The House in the Tree’ served a very good meal to six of our ladies.
