Stonehouse British Legion Women's Section

THE monthly meeting took place at the Community Centre on Thursday, August 31.

Rosemary our chairman led the exhortation and silent tribute.

There were 21 members present.

We were pleased to hear that our cream tea in August raised £126 for branch funds, and was an enjoyable social occasion.

Our branch in Stonehouse is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and events are being planned to recognise this.

There will be a special service for our November meeting led by the Rev Charles Minchin.

Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, September 28, at the community centre at 1.45pm when we hope to have a speaker from Rotary.

Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items to put in the harvest hampers for Rotary to distribute.

Our competition winner for a knitted hat was won by Hilda Rhodes, and Hilda must also be congratulated for knitting and bringing over 20 hats for David Drew for his appeal for hats for seafarers!

If anyone would like to knit a poppy to put on the war memorial in Nailsworth, Penny will give you a pattern.

We are always pleased to welcome new members to our busy and lively branch meetings.
