Stroud & District Motor Club - Ebworth Stage Rally Reunion
50 years ago on October 8, 1967, Stroud & District Motor Club organised its first stage rally in Ebworth Woods, Sheepscombe.
The Stroud News & Journal provided the overall winner’s trophy.
The event proved popular and in 1975 it saw an entry from royal motor enthusiast HRH Prince Michael of Kent driving a Ford Escort RS.
In the same year, the morning stages of the event were also held at Gatcombe Park before it was owned by Princess Anne.
The event ran annually until 1992 but the Club continued to hold classic car trials at the venue until 2016.
To celebrate the date, the Club would like to invite organisers, marshals, drivers, navigators or anybody who had any association with the stage rally to this reunion, which will be held on October 8, 2017 – exactly 50 years to the day after the first event.
Stroud & District Motor Club itself was formed in 1950 and ran a number of navigational road rallies throughout the 1950s.
The Club remains very active to this day and runs a full calendar of successful competitive and social events annually, which are always well supported.
