TSB partners in Wotton-Under-Edge hike it, bike it and bake it for youth and community services

TSB Partners and customers in Wotton-under-Edge have raised over £700 for their Local Charity Partner, Youth and Community Services by cycling over 100 miles on a static exercise bike in one day.

As well as the static bike ride, there were also some wonderful bakes on sale in branch for Partners and customers to enjoy.

The funds raised will be used to support the staff to run events for the youth community in Wotton.

“Hike It or Bike It” was initiated by TSB’s team in Scotland in 2013, and they raised more than £40,000 for charity from this initiative alone. In 2014, TSB made “Hike It or Bike It” an annual TSB-wide fundraiser and many Partners hopped on the saddle or trekked into work to raise money for charity.

This year we have added “Bake It” to the event, making it more inclusive for those who prefer to be in the kitchen than outdoors.

Mark Little, Bank Manager, TSB Wotton-under-Edge says: "Youth and Community Services is a vital part of our local community and we’re really proud to have them as our Local Charity Partner.

"Our team in Wotton has worked hard putting in a lot of time and dedication to make this event a success. We have really enjoyed our bake sale, and between four members of staff, we cycled over 100 miles on a static bike! It is fantastic to know the difference that our efforts will make."

Liam McMullen, Youth Worker, Youth and Community Services comments: "We are hugely grateful to TSB and its local Partners in Wotton. The money they are raising and the general support we’re getting is helping us to deliver really important services to the Wotton community. Having major businesses like TSB supporting us locally is a great way of making our community stronger."

TSB’s sole focus is to serve local people and businesses which, in turn, helps fuel local economies across Britain. Instead of having a centrally chosen Charity of the Year, Partners working at TSB are empowered to support a local cause that shares the Bank’s passion for helping local communities thrive.

TSB has given more than £1.7 million to local causes across Britain since its local charity partnerships launched in 2015. This year a record 27,000 nominations were received from local charities across the country to join the programme which sees TSB Partners from 550 branches and eight office sites volunteer and raise money on behalf of the chosen charities.

Wotton Youth Group is one of over 450 new organisations being supported by the programme over the next 12 months.
