Woodchester WI with speaker Shani Wills and her saris
AN INDIAN summer certainly didn’t happen this year, but that didn’t stop Woodchester WI getting into the spirit of India and Sri Lanka when they welcomed Shani Wills to speak to them about her stunning saris.
Shani shared the fascinating history of saris with us, whilst showing us a selection of her favourites, including one of her beautiful wedding saris.
She then demonstrated how to put a sari on, and we were then able to have a go ourselves.
How elegant and feminine we felt once draped in these beautiful silk fabrics.
A most enjoyable evening.
Out and about we have participated in a number of Gloucestershire Federation WI activities, including a visit to the Cirencester Quaker House, and the Autumn County Meeting whose Guest Speaker, Heather Jacks, The Great British Sewing Bee winner (2014) demonstrated that not only is she an accomplished needlewoman (plus artist, musician, dressage rider and instructor besides), but an excellent and entertaining public speaker too.
Many activities are now being planned for the forthcoming year at a local, county and national level, so if you feel you would like to come along and join in, please email angela.j.pryor@gmail.com or come along to our next meeting at Woodchester Village Hall.
The next meeting is Thursday, October 19, at 7.30pm, and then on November 16.
You will be most welcome.
