Arlingham WI with Jan Ryder from Longfield

ACTIVITIES on offer in the coming months include an embroidery day at WI House in January, a walking holiday in Devon in May and the opportunity to enter the Tim Poole Cup with an article on ‘What does your WI mean to you?’

Our speaker this month was Jan Ryder from Longfield.

Based in Minchinhampton, the charity changed its name from Cotswold Care in 2015, when it realised that its aim to support any adult with a life limiting illness wasn’t really reflected in the old name.

After dispelling various myths about hospices, we learned that the charity doesn’t offer beds as we might have imagined, rather a 12 week programme of day care to include complimentary therapy, creative therapy and counselling.

Please consider donating or buying from the shops to enable the charity to continue its much-needed work.

Refreshments were by Sandra and Fay.

The beautiful flowers by Sue were donated to Pauline and the raffle was won by Julie.

First prize in the competition for something brown went to Bronwen with a loving spoon, Sandra won second prize with some walnuts and Fay’s crocodile came third.

Our next meeting will take place on November 9, and the competition will be for something red.

Arlingham WI meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30pm in Arlingham Village Hall.

New members are most welcome - just come along on the night.
