Eastcombe WI with speaker Mr Smith with a talk and slide show on moths
WE THANKED Mr Smith for stepping in at short notice to deliver a fascinating talk and slide show on moths.
As there are some 2,500 species to be seen in the UK, the range and variety is phenomenal.
From the hefty Privet Hawk moth to the smaller, Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner at only 3mm.
Surreal tactics for deterring predators such as those used by the Elephant Hawk moth caterpillar, and the amazing Humming Bird moth, which totally lives up to its name in appearance, feeding and flying habit!
Business matters of the Institute followed:-
Finances; election arrangements for 2018 Committee; menu choices for the Christmas Supper; lunch club arrangements; involvement of the Craft Group in the Christmas Tree Festival, and exploratory moves into the world of Scrabble-playing!
Some members had joined with France Lynch WI to enjoy ‘Crazy for You’ at the Bristol Hippodrome, with time to enjoy Bristol before and after the show – a thoroughly good day out.
If you would be interested in joining the Eastcombe WI, please do not hesitate to contact Margery Lambert (01453 886697, or email marglambert@btinternet.com) for further information and to arrange to sample one of our meetings.
