Stroud Inner Wheel visit Westonbirt Arboretum
FOR their October meeting members of Stroud Inner Wheel decided to head for the great outdoors to enjoy a tour of the Arboretum at Westonbirt.
Led by a fellow member who is a volunteer there, the group enjoyed a leisurely stroll along the paths, stopping to admire and hear details of some of the unusual and colourful trees for which the Arboretum is so rightly famous.
Autumn had brought out the wonderful colours of many of the specimens - particularly in the Acer Glade.
But it was not just the tree to be admired - who could resist saying "hello" to the Gruffalo and his friends who seem to have taken up residence there.
Well we are all children at heart!
Another fairly recent attraction to be sampled was the walkway constructed over a natural valley which enabled visitors to wander above the treetops - quite an experience.
Originally planted by a wealthy Victorian family, the Arboretum is now a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year.
