Woodchester WI: Fun and Games

FUN and games has been the order of the day at Woodchester WI in October and November.

Our Annual General Meeting was held midst much reminiscing and debate regarding the rules for the games ‘we used to play’ in the school playground!

In October, member Muriel McTiffin hosted a Playground Games evening where we enjoyed playing marbles, jacks, conkers, skipping, two-ball and making ‘snappers’….or were they called ‘fortune tellers’?

Then, in November, we settled down to board games, ranging from old favourites such as Chinese Chequers and Scrabble to newer arrivals including Jenga and Bananagrams.

Woodchester WI also hosted a Group Meeting where WI members from Box, Minchinhampton and Nailsworth joined us in mastering the art of paper-folding.

We were so busy upcycling old paperbacks into hedgehogs and Christmas trees that our delicious cream teas were served late!

Our members have also been busy getting involved in the Gloucestershire Federation WI events, including an outing to NEC Birmingham 3-shows-1-day trip where we visited the Hobbycrafts, Stitching and Art Materials shows; a long, but most enjoyable day.

A Creative Papercutting Workshop proved very inspiring, and the Walks with Lunch continue to be popular with our members.

As we embark on putting the final touches to our 2018 Programme, a visit to a New Speakers’ Event has introduced us to a number of new speakers that we look forward to welcoming to Woodchester next year.

If you would like to come along and join in with our busy, happy group please contact Angela on angela.j.pryor@gmail.com or join us at Woodchester Village Hall.

Our next meetings are on Thursday, December 14, 2017, and January 18, 2018, at 7.30pm.

Do come along and join us.
