Stonehouse British Legion Women's Section
THE monthly meeting took place at the Community Centre on Tuesday, December 14.
Rosemary our chairman led the exhortation and silent tribute.
There were 18 members present, as illness had affected several members.
We were pleased to hear that our Samaritans Purse Shoeboxes had arrived in Bulgaria to be given to children for Christmas.
After the business meeting we all enjoyed singing Christmas carols, followed by cups of tea and mince pies.
We also enjoyed the remaining iced fruit cake generously given by Wycliffe College for our 90th Anniversary celebration in November.
Members were asked if they would like to buy a tube of Smarties, and when empty to fill it with coins for the Poppy appeal The competition for a new years resolution was won by Sandra Sowls and Sue Daw.
The competition for the February 22 meeting will be "a floral postcard".
Our next meeting is on January 25 at the Beacon Hotel in Haresfield when we shall have a festive lunch, and enjoy each others company once again.
