Stroud Gardening Club with Jenny Bailey's talk on Colour in the Garden

STROUD Gardening Club held their January meeting on a wet and windy evening, and Sharon Pellatt, Chairperson welcomed everyone with a couple of announcements for the Rococo Garden, Painswick visit on Saturday, February 17, when everyone is invited to meet in Painswick, at the Rococo Gardens Car Park at 11am.

Anyone needing lift should contact Jan Davis to arrange transport.

Sharon also mentioned to everyone present that the AGM for the Club is being held in the Bedford Street Rooms on Wednesday, February 21, at 7.30pm, and we would like as many people to attend the meeting as possible.

This will be your opportunity to discuss any new ideas which may be put forward.

Sharon then introduced our speaker for the evening, Jenny Bailey, who has been a horticulturalist for 45 years, and the subject for the evening was Colour in the Garden.

Jenny is a very experienced gardener, who gave an interesting talk illustrated with numerous slides to demonstrate how colour works in various displays of small borders and bigger planting in parks, etc.

Many of the slides were of local displays, which the members could identify.

Jenny also brought along a number of plants and cuttings which she had taken from her own garden, and which she explained fully to those present, and handed out after the talk was finished.

The evening finished with refreshments and cakes, which were made by Sharon and Jan.

Sharon then closed the meeting, and everyone thanked Jenny for her interesting talk.

As already mentioned our February meeting is our AGM and will be held at the Bedford Street Rooms on Wednesday, 21, at 7.30pm.

Please come along and support your Club, as without our members the Club cannot exist.

Visitors are also welcome to attend, and to offer any suggestions which may help to contribute to the success of the Club.
