Upton St Leonards WI 95th birthday celebrations
PRESIDING over our 95th birthday celebrations our President Lynne was joined by special guests County Chair Jan Turner, Maggie Vinson and Lesley Watters.
Members and guests were welcomed and a strong rendition of Jerusalem was sung.
Minutes were read and approved and forthcoming notices duly given.
Spring flowers adorned small tables as guests and members relaxed for an evening of entertainment provided by Gloucester Strings Ukulele Group.
Toe tapping 60s and 70s music was played with members joining in.
Marlene sang with the band to “Eyes of Blue, Five Feet Two” while others danced embracing the music, all of us enjoying a happy evening of celebration.
At the centre of our festivities was a beautifully decorated cake, a toast was given to past and present members also to our future years.
Jan Turner cut the first slice of cake which was then enjoyed by our members and guests.
The band resumed playing again and rounded off a wonderful “95” Anniversary.
Marlene gave a vote of thanks, followed by a warm round of applause for the band.
We meet again on Monday, March 5, for a talk on “Hearing Dogs for the Deaf” presented by Marlene Watson.
All ladies are warmly welcomed.
