Leonard Stanley Wine Circle with Michele Zazarus' talk on Hypnotherapy

DESPITE the cold weather, a good number of members braved the elements to come to our February meeting.

Due to the weather, our format was slightly changed with Chairman Eric welcoming our speaker Michele Zazarus who gave us a most interesting and illuminative talk on Hypnotherapy.

She talked about myths and preconceptions and how the brain works.

Amongst the many things she treats is chronic insomnia, eating disorders, not wanting to go to school, anxiety, drinking and smoking issues etc and stressed how important sleep is to our well being and how hypnotherapy can help.

Michelle was an excellent speaker, being articulate, knowledgeable and had an arresting personality and answered our many questions with patience.

Business followed and Eric welcomed some new members.

The consensus opinion of members who attended the Christmas Dinner at The George, Frocester was that it was good and it was decided to go there again this year.

For many years Fiona and David Turner has hosted the annual Garden Party in June at their home and in appreciation Eric presented Fiona with an attractive basket of brightly coloured flowers made by Barbara Hale one of our members, and David a bottle of red wine and thanked them for their hospitality at the Grange.

He also thanked Sue and Graham Jones for offering their garden at Yew Tree Cottage, Mash Road for this years’ Garden Party.

We still need a Vice Chairman and as yet no offers coming forth.

Eric mentioned the need for knitted red poppies for both St Swithun’s Church and the War Memorial in order to commemorate 100 years ago the ending of the First World War.

Anyone willing to knit poppies were asked to contact Chris Phillips who had simple knitting patterns available.

As is normal we finished the evening off with supper and the usual glass of wine.

Our next meeting is on March 28, when David Fletcher will talk on Antarctica. Looking at the weather at the moment, we will be able to empathise with this talk no doubt.

Visitors will be made very welcome – our meetings start at 7.30pm in Leonard Stanley Village Hall.
