Stroud Gardening Club

STROUD Gardening Club held their AGM on Wednesday, February 21, and this was attended by 18 members.

It was a lively meeting, and reports from the Chairperson, Sharon Pellatt, Secretary Jan Davis and Treasurer, Marianne Child were well received.

Our current committee of Sharon Pellatt, Jan Davis, Marianne Child, Christine Davies, Jane Burriss, Mavis Wyatt and Gill Jobbins all said they are happy to continue for another year, and this was duly approved.

The new calendar for the next year will be available from our March meeting, and this will include two coach trips.

The first is on Wednesday, May 30, to Aulden Farm in Hereford which is home to the National Collection of Siberian Iris, and incorporates a visit to the Hop Pocket Garden & Outlet Centre.

The coach will leave Stratford Park Leisure Centre at 9am and arrive back about 5.30pm.

The second coach trip will be to Wisley Flower Show on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

This will incorporate a stop at the Longacres Garden Centre, which is quite close to Wisley.

Again, we will leave Stratford Park Leisure Centre at 9am and arrive back about 6pm.

These trips are open to members, family and friends, and if anyone is interested, please contact Jan Davis on 01453 757952 or 07917 876821 for further details.

Thanks were given to the committee by David Cooke for their good work over the past year, and this was acknowledged by all who were present.

The AGM closed at 8.15pm, and the raffle was drawn and refreshments served, including cakes made by Sharon and Jan.

Next month sees our Members Bulb Show on March 15, and members are reminded that all exhibits should be staged by 7pm.

This is always a very competitive evening, and the show is being judged by Mrs Sue Sutton.
