Twinning group heralds successful past year

THE 2018 Annual General Meeting of Bisley-with-Lypiatt Twinning Association saw a healthy turnout of group members at Bisley WI Village Hall on Tuesday, March 6 — not long after the recent heavy snowfall.

Attendees were able to reflect on what has been a successful year for the organisation, which in 2018 celebrates the 25th anniversary of its establishment and is looking forward to welcoming visitors from its twinned French commune of Plessala, located in Brittany, in August.

The chairman's report for the year just past drew on achievements and fond memories for the group, including its visit to Plessala in August 2017 and successful fundraising events like lunches and a party to mark Twelfth Night at Eastcombe Village Hall in January.

The forthcoming visit from the twinning group in Plessala, taking place from August 24 to 27, was also discussed, with a marquee event — a bring-and-share supper with music — planned for both members and non-members in order to celebrate.

This will take place on the evening following Bisley Flower Show, on Saturday, August 25, on the field next to Bisley WI Village Hall, the ground on which the show will have taken place.

The Association offers members of differing ages the chance to make new friends, attend social events and, if they wish, get involved with the annual exchange with Plessala.

All prospective members are welcome.

An annual membership subscription is £3 for an individual and £5 for a couple or family.
