STROUD Gardening Club held their March meeting on Wednesday, March 21, which was their Members' Bulb Show.

Chairperson, Sharon Pellatt opened the evening, introducing Mrs Sue Sutton as judge for the show, and mentioned that this year has been particularly difficult for spring flowers due to the recent cold spells and snowfall, and this is reflected in the results, as follows:

Class 1 - Container of daffodils or narcissi: one variety

First - A Wyatt

Second - J Burriss

Class 2 - Flowering Tulips

First - J Burriss

Class 3 - Any other flowering bulbs: (crocus, hyacinth, etc.)

First - J Davis

Second - J Dodd

Third - S Pellatt

Class 4 - Vase of cut spring flowers

Third - J Davis

Class 5 - Vase containing cut foliage

Class 6 - Pot of five tete a tete

Class 7 - Spring Flowering Container

Class 9 - One Stem Trumpet Daffodil

The Stroud Gardening Club Cup for overall Best in Show was presented to Tony Wyatt for his winning Container of Daffodils (Class 1), and the trophy was presented to Tony by last years winner, Sharon Pellatt.

Following the show, the raffle was drawn, and refreshments and cakes were served, and thanks were given to Sue Sutton for her expertise in making the evening a great success.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, April 18, at the Bedford Street Congregational Church Rooms at 7.30pm, when our speaker will be Mr Chris Evans from Dundry Nurseries.
