Cotswold Bowls Club host charity bowls match
COTSWOLD Bowls Club hosted a charity bowls match on Saturday, March 31, to raise funds for the children's charity Whizz-Kidz.
This well supported event saw 96 bowlers from across the county, raise £2,855 which included a generous donation from DHL of £600.
Whizz-Kidz provides facilities for young disabled people to meet, make friends and have fun.
They do everything from music, dance, art, sports, beauty therapy, cooking, trips and a whole lot more.
The sessions are for young wheelchair users aged 2 – 25 and many of the dedicated trainers are wheelchair users themselves.
The matches were competitive but played in good spirit, and a great deal of fun was had by everyone.
Played in teams of four, on a ‘round robin’ basis, the eventual winners were Jane Lowden, Jeff Lowden, Steph Hudd, and Graham Hudd who play their bowls for Bristol Greenbank.
The runners-up were Chris Hodnett, Tony Stone, Margaret Stalley, and John Pye.
The organisers, Jenny Dyer and B J Smith, are grateful to all those who took part and thanked Cotswold Bowls Club for the use of their lovely indoor facilities.
This has become an annual event with a different children’s charity benefitting each year.
