Cainscross WI's Cheese and Wine Evening

MOST members were present for our April meeting and we welcomed one visitor to join our Members’ Cheese & Wine Evening.

We did receive apologies from Doreen Tucker and Jean Horsfall.

Margaret Adams was thanked for her pretty spring flowers for our table, which she had arranged in a small terracotta pot.

We then held a Minute’s Silence for Jane Thatcher.

Jane was a longstanding member and previous President of the group who had moved away a few years ago.

We moved on to a small discussion about some of the correspondence received and details of the forthcoming Weavers’ Group meeting.

After this we relaxed and enjoyed our Cheese & Wine Evening, which was accompanied with grapes, celery and crackers.

During our supper, we played a game of beetle drive, which had us all laughing and coming up with different rules for the game!

It was a good social evening and ended up with us all having a good old natter.

June Bendall kindly updated us with details of her recent visit to the Annual Council Meeting when one of the guest speakers was Adam Henson, the popular Animal Park owner and presenter on BBC Countryfile.

She had the company of Thelma Weldon and Pam Elliott for the day and they all seemed to have enjoyed themselves.

We finished with coffee/tea and chocolate biscuits and the drawing of the raffle.

Our next meeting will fall on Tuesday, May 1, and will be the Resolutions Meeting, followed by our fun mini-auction which is always popular and the place to bag a bargain.

This meeting, as usual, will take place at St Matthew’s Church Hall, Church Road, Cainscross and will start at 7.15pm.

All new members or visitors will be made most welcome for a small charge and there are always refreshments on offer.

For more details on any of the above please call Mary on 01453 762812.
