Cainscross WI with Pam Slater and her lovely talk on ‘Pearls’

WE HAD a ‘full house’ for our June meeting and also welcomed three visitors for the evening.

We hope they liked us enough to come again for a return visit.

Some lovely table flowers were displayed by Georgie Hall, which included some very pretty yellow and red Alstromeria.

After the usual business of Minutes, Treasurer’s Report and matters arising, we had some correspondence to discuss.

This included an Invitation to Afternoon Tea from Frocester WI at the end of June.

We then went on to discuss the arrangements for our own outing next month to celebrate our 92nd birthday.

We hope to travel by coach to The Suttons, Hereford for an evening supper, so obviously we will be away from our usual venue at St Matthew’s on Tuesday, July 3.

With business concluded, we welcomed Group Speaker Pam Slater and her lovely talk on ‘Pearls’.

This is a new talk by Pam and was particularly appropriate as of course the birthstone for the month of June is Pearls.

I thought it was a great talk for a summer evening and Pam is a good clear speaker with all her talks.

We finished with the raffle, refreshments and the announcement of the monthly competition winners as:-

First - Mary Jarrett

Second - Sheila Shipton

Third - Dot Brunning

As already stated we will be away for the July meeting, but hope to be back at St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross for Tuesday, August 7, when we will welcome Richard Burton and his talk on ‘The Wandering Cook’.

The monthly competition will be A Favourite Recipe.

This meeting will start as usual at 7.15pm and visitors or new members are always more than welcome to join us.

For any more information on any of the above, please call Mary on 01453 762812.
