STROUD Gardening Club enjoyed a day visit to Aulden Farm in Herefordshire on May 30, which was a rather wet day when we left Stroud.

However, our stop at the Hop Pocket Garden and Outlet Centre was pleasant, as the rain had stopped and we enjoyed a good lunch before setting off for Aulden Farm.

This was down some very narrow lanes, and on our arrival at 2pm, we were welcomed by Mr and Mrs Whitehead.

We were given a brief history of the farm and the build up of the National Collection of Siberian Iris.

The gardens were about two acres in all, and many varieties of flowers and trees kept everyone interested.

After the visit, refreshments were served, together with home made cakes, which were lovely, and we were able to sit outside to enjoy our tea.

Mr and Mrs Whitehead waved us off on our return journey.

Mid-summer saw the Club invited to the Open Garden Evening at the home of our chair, Mrs Sharon Pellatt.

It was a warm evening, and the garden was lovely, and has grown beautifully this year.

Refreshments were supplied by Sharon, and a raffle was drawn.

Many thanks to Sharon for her hospitality.

Our next event will be running our Plant Stall at the Stroud Country Show on Saturday, July 21, at the Stratford Park Show Ground.

We will be setting up our stall near the Horticultural Tent - please come and visit us and support our Club.
