Cainscross WI 92nd Birthday Party

WE WERE away to The Suttons, Hereford for our 92nd Birthday Party outing on a sweltering evening in early July.

19 of us boarded a Jackie’s coach and had a lovely journey to The Suttons, which is a combination of the parishes of St Nicholas and St. Richard and was a lovely village setting with a very modern hall and facilities.

We were warmly greeted by Eileen Dilley and her team of WI lady caterers who did us proud.

They had a table groaning with plates of cold meats, potatoes and a large array of salads to tempt everyone’s taste buds and a very nice touch was the orange punch they served with it.

If you still had ‘room’ (and most of us did!), there was a delicious choice of desserts to follow, including pavlova, trifle and a lovely chocolate sponge gateau.

All this was washed down with tea or coffee.

Everyone had a delightful evening and the warm welcome, food and even the weather couldn’t have been better.

Next month, on the August 7, we will be back at St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross, for a talk by Richard Burton called ‘The Wandering Cook’.

The evening to start as usual at 7.15pm and the monthly competition will be for ‘A favourite recipe’.

After that, on Tuesday, September 4, there will be a Craft Evening with a chance to have a go at a new craft or two.

Visitors or new members will be made very welcome if you care to join us and for more information call Mary on 01453 762812.
