‘Pest and Diseases’ Talk given at Hilltop Gardening Club
JENNY Tidman, Horticultural Adviser from Nurdens Garden Centre, Malmesbury, blew us away with her in-depth knowledge of ‘Pest and Diseases’ and how to care for plants.
Although she came along to Eastcombe Village Hall with a wide selection of different products for garden use against those insects regarded as pests, and to combat diseases, she coupled her talk with encouraging everyone to keep plants healthy by watering and feeding appropriately so that they did not become stressed in the first place and as a result suffer with pests and diseases.
The members and visitors brought along a wide selection of foliage showing different pests or diseases in action.
Jenny wielded various stems exhibiting damage.
Her knowledge of plant species aided her identification of the pests as different insects are prone to be attracted to specific plants.
The more I listened, the more I realised how much I did not know about pests and diseases!
Jenny’s anecdotes, memories, and fascinating knowledge made it an evening that I was glad not to miss.
Jenny Tidman and Nurdens Garden Centre can be found on the Malmesbury ring road near the Watertower roundabout and they do have a tea room!
