Upton St Leonards WI's Summer Soiree

OUR Summer Soiree was a reflection of culinary skills of summer puddings.

Members and guests, after being welcomed by Lynne, were met with a display of mouthwatering puddings.

What to taste first was the problem but, once decided, little portions were the way forward.

Interspersed with drinks and soft music, conversation flowed as members had time to socialize, reminisce and most importantly enjoy each others company.

Business was very brief.

The trip to Tewkesbury Abbey was most enjoyable with an excellent guide and tea served by volunteers.

We will be having afternoon tea at Painswick Golf Club on Wednesday, September 5.

Our class at USL Flower Show on September 8 is six items in a box for a pet which will then be donated to an animal charity.

On Thursday, October 18, we are holding a “Question and Answer” session with a local Funeral Director and on October 11, we are having a trip to Bristol Blue Glass.

On October 25, and November 1, Judy is holding a workshop where we will be making a Christmas decoration.

Angela has received a thank you letter from Cancer Research after raising £215 for the charity with her Strawberry Tea.

Thanks to all members and friends who supported her on a very hot summer's day.

Lynne welcomed two new members Wendy and Janice.

All other news in the GFWI newsheet.

We meet again on Monday, September 3, at 7.30pm for a talk on “The history of Alney Island” presented by Tony Condor from the Civic Trust.

All ladies are very welcome.
