Cainscross WI's craft evening

WE WERE a little depleted for our early September meeting with apologies from Patsy, Dot, Pam, Kate and Sheila.

We did however welcome one visitor to join us.

Mary was thanked for her table flowers of lemon Alstromeria, mauve asters and pink button chrysanthemums teamed with limonium and pittesporum arranged in a little wade china basket.

After the usual business and some discussion on the correspondence received, we split into groups to undertake our chosen craft for the evening.

Some members made little brown felt hedgehogs, whilst others sewed some lovely lavender bags.

I tried my hand at a green felt Christmas tree decoration, which when finished with sequins and a gold hanging loop, will look just the job with my other decorations.

We must thank Doreen, our President, for arranging the evening and most of the crafts and also Val who brought along some kits of a ‘hat’ pincushion that some members made.

We finished, as usual, with the calling of the raffle and refreshments.

Our next meeting is set to take place on Tuesday, October 2 at 7.15pm as usual in St Matthew’s Church Hall, Cainscross, when our speaker for the evening will be Anne Weare with her demonstration on ‘Bookbinding’.

The competition will be for ‘An autumn flower display’.

All visitors or new members will be most welcome to join us and we always have refreshments, a sales table and raffle.

If you can’t make October, our early November meeting will fall on Tuesday, November 6, when Mr Patrick Howell will talk on ‘The Cotswold Players’.

This will follow our AGM.
