Randwick Gardening Club with The Secret Garden at Stroud Museum
IN THE absence of the chairman the meeting was opened by the treasurer Mrs Betty Clark.
She said members who entered exhibits in the Randwick Show did very well especially Mrs Marian Watkins who won the "Silver Spade" for the most points.
She then introduced the speaker for the evening Mrs A Taylor who spoke about The Secret Garden at Stroud Museum.
She started with a history of Stratford Park illustrated with early plans and photographs.
On the site of the Tesco Petrol Station originally stood Stratford Abbey.
In 1935 Stratford Park was purchased by the then Stroud Urban District Council.
The garden was opened in October 2016 which includes The Pavilion, a multi purpose learning space.
The talk was very informative and entertaining.
There were two visitors, one being the Mayor of Randwick.
The raffle was won by Franca, Jan, Sandra and Iris.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, October 9, when the talk will be Finding The Angle At Chelsea by Mrs M Bradshaw.
