THE sky flickered and roared above Stroud as a lighting storm hit in the early hours of Saturday.
Flashes were followed by deafening thunder at around midnight when the worst of the weather swept through the town, waking people in their beds.
SNJ reader Kenton Hodges captured this stunning shots between 1.55am and 2.05am from Cainscross, Stroud, looking south across towards Rodborough Hill.
Heavy rain and humid conditions were the flavour of the evening and early hours of the morning.
Showers will gradually ease and moving northwards through the evening, leaving a mainly dry night with variable cloud amounts and localised mist patches.
