STROUD Labour is launching its general election campaign this weekend.

All those wanting to see David Drew elected as an MP in May are invited to Stonehouse Community Centre between 11am and 3.30pm on Sunday for the official launch of his local campaign.

“So many people tell us how keen they are to get David back as our MP that we thought we’d give them the opportunity to turn up and pledge support in person,” said Dick Greenslade, chairman of Stroud Labour.

“We are launching the campaign at midday on Sunday 27 July, followed by a buffet lunch.”

Residents are invited to the community centre in Laburnum Walk for tea and cake, for lunch or just for five minutes to sign their support for Mr Drew's campaign.

The Stroud constituency is 16th in the Labour Party’s list of 106 seats which are key to getting a Labour Government elected.

“We need to get a Labour Government who will protect the NHS and build an economy based on growth and jobs, not on making the poor even poorer,” said Mr Greenslade.
