CHRISTMAS carols will be sung in aid of The Door Youth Project at their annual event, Christmas Presence in December.

The evening will see patron of The Door and winner of the Chinese X Factor, Mary-Jess Leaverland and Official UK Classical Chart topper Rebecca Newman sing on Saturday, December 13.

Harry Gardner, a fundraiser for the charity said: “We are ecstatic to have such renowned singers, coming to Stroud to support the work of The Door Youth Project.

“Mary-Jess actually won our Undiscovered Youth Talent Contest back in 2011 and from there she has gone on to sing the Downton Abbey theme, to perform Abide with Me at the 2012 FA Cup Final and she released her debut album Shine on Decca Records.”

Joining Mary-Jess is Rebecca Newman, who has shared the stage with Russell Watson and Aled Jones.

In 2013, Rebecca began working on her new album, for which she and Mary-Jess recorded the duet Sull'aria and the album went straight to number one in the Official UK Classical Album chart. Christmas Presence will see the pair performing Sull'aria publically for the first time.

Tickets can be bought online at www.christmas-presence.eventbrite.co.uk or at Stroud Subscription Rooms at Tourist Information. Tickets are £8 for adults and £5 for under 16s.
