WHEN a Nailsworth bride-to-be was looking for someone to decorate her wedding cake and couldn’t find one, she decided to make her own figures.

After sharing pictures of the polymer clay figures on her Facebook page, Laura Barton’s Cotswold Characters began to attract a lot of interest.

Friends and family started asking her to make wedding and birthday figurines for their own cakes.

Soon Laura found herself taking enough commissions to work part-time making her Cotswold Characters for people celebrating weddings, birthdays, christenings and Christmas.

One of Laura's most recent commissions is from Britain's Got Talent star Ashleigh who requested a sculpture of her and Pudsey the dog.

Ashleigh and Laura met at a fund raising event for the Cotswold dogs and cats home in Tetbury in November.

Laura now has an official website and is fully booked until August this year.

Cotswold Characters has now also been accepted and registered with the Professional Crafters Guild, an organisation that helps working crafters show the world that they mean business when it comes to craft.

Laura is currently taking bookings from September 2015 onwards.
