QUEEN rock guitarist Brian May called for “radical reform” of the British politics saying the UK was still stuck in the “feudal system”.

Highlighting the growing disparity between rich and poor, the privitisation of the NHS and the badger culls, May said “the corruption in this government is beyond belief”.

May wants to see an end to the party whip system. He argued that MPs should not be whipped according to their party line, rather, they should vote according to what their constituents want.

He was at SGS College in Stroud on Wednesday, March 25 to encourage the students to vote and to tackle voter apathy.

He also proposed a new system of governance where people vote for the person they want rather than the party they want to see representing them. This would mean a government from all political parties. May called it “colour-blind voting”.

The event is part of May’s Common Decency campaign launched on Tuesday, March 24 which demands a fairer UK.

After May spoke students had the opportunity to ask questions.

He later spoke at Lansdown Hall in Stroud.
