THE family of Adam Tharia, the 15-year-old boy who died three days after he was found hanging from a tree, have paid tribute to a "wonderful son and brother".

The Bournside School pupil passed away Bristol Children's Hospital on Sunday May 24, three days after he was found hanging from a tree in Robert Burns Avenue in Cheltenham.

His family issued the following statement: "Adam was the most wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be missed by so many.

"The boy we knew and loved was an outdoorsy teenager who loved skateboarding and going out with his friends. He loved animals and was great with his cousins.

"Adam was intelligent and worked hard at school, and had a particular interest in history and politics. He was well thought of by his teachers and peers alike.

"Although in some ways Adam was independent and carefree, he seemed quiet, sensitive and serious in others. As Adam's parents, we value the importance of charities promoting good mental health in children and young people.

"Our beautiful boy will be with us forever."

A family liaison officer has been appointed to work with his family and provide every possible support.

Yesterday, Bournside School released the following statement: "The whole school community is deeply saddened by this tragic loss.

"Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy go out to the family at this most distressing time.

"The school will work together to support and care for each other when term re-starts on Monday June 1."

Police said that investigations into the death are ongoing, but they are not treating it as suspicious.

They have asked everyone to avoid speculation about the circumstances of the death and to remain sensitive towards the family.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police without delay on 101, quoting incident 345 of May 21.
