TO GO towards repairing the roof of the hall, Oakridge Village Hall Trust has been granted £2,363 by the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust Company.

Pauline Battison, secretary of the Oakridge Village Hall Trust in Stroud, said: “We are most grateful to receive this generous grant which enables us to quickly start repairing part of the hall roof which has been leaking badly for some time.

“Without this support we would have faced further deterioration of the fabric.

“There is also an additional gain in that we will be able to upgrade the insulation as part of the work.”

Built in 1954 the hall is well used by local community groups including the History Society, WI, the Church in Oakridge and Oakridge Garden Club.

Volunteers also run a Luncheon Club for the elderly twice a month.

Weekends are usually busy with local family parties and the Trustees hold regular fund-raising events.
