A TALK on evolution by a student from Eastcombe School was the worthy winner of this year’s Thomas Keble Speaking Competition.
Year six student, Iona Edmonds took first prize, impressing the judges with her informative and entertaining speech, while Sydney Robinson McCann and Charlie Mead were close runners-up with their talks about tea and building a tree house.
This year’s judging panel consisted of year nine students Freya Key and Freya Adams with their teacher Alex Breeze from Thomas Keble School.
He said “The standard of speeches was incredible.
"We have all been impressed with the effort that has gone into each presentation and I would like to thank the students, their parents and the primary schools involved for their continued support for what has been a fantastic event.”
Thomas Keble has hosted the competition for almost ten years and plans are already underway to make next year’s event even bigger.
