THE A419 from Merrywalks to Cainscross roundabout in Stroud will be closed over a number of nights next week to allow for resurfacing work.

The new surface will stretch the entire length of the road and crews will be on site until Tuesday August 11 to complete the work.

Overnight road closures will be in place between 7pm – 7am on Sunday August 2, Monday August 3, Tuesday August 4 and Thursday August 6.

The road will also be fully closed on Tuesday August 11 with a diversion A4171 Stratford Rd.

To help keep vehicles moving during the day a convoy will be working between 7.30am - 5.30pm on Monday August 3, Tuesday August 4, Wednesday August 5, Thursday August 6, Friday August 7 and Monday August 10.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "This is a well used road and we know that everyone will benefit hugely once the resurfacing work has been completed.

"This work is part of our ongoing programme of road improvements across the county.

“We would like to thank road users and the local community for their continued patience whilst we carry out these vital works.”
