PEOPLE who want to remember a loved one over the Christmas period can dedicate a star to their memory at Longfield’s Light Up A Life service.

The charity in Minchinhampton is inviting members of the community to the annual event which gives people an opportunity to pay tribute to friends or family who have died.

A star can be dedicated in their name which will be displayed on the tree after the service.

The tree and the gardens of Longfield in Burleigh Lane will be adorned with stars and anyone who has donated one can visit throughout the Christmas period to seek theirs out and spend time in the grounds.

Andrew Fletcher, chief executive of Longfield, said the service was a wonderful celebration that also helped fund the facility.

“By dedicating a star and donating towards Longfield, we will ensure your star will be displayed throughout the festive season both at your home and at the hospice.

“Light Up A Life is always a special way to mark the memory of your loved ones and it serves a very practical purpose too as we ask that everyone dedicating a star makes a gift towards Longfield’s work.

“These funds help to ensure we can offer support to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families over the festive period.

"It’s a wonderful way to make a special difference this Christmastime.”

This year’s service will be held at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Bell Lane, Minchinhampton, GL6 9BP, on Sunday, December 6, from 2.30pm to 4pm.

There is no designated parking for the service but visitors can park in the village and there is a car park off the market square.

Mince pies and refreshments will be served before the stars are hung on the tree.
