RENOWNED author, journalist and conservationist George Monbiot is giving a talk in Stroud this summer.

The weekly Guardian columnist will be discussing his new charity Rewildling Britain, which is working towards the mass restoration of ecosystems in the UK, on land and at sea.

He is speaking at the Subscription Rooms in Stroud from 7-9pm on Friday, June 10 as part of the Stroud Festival of Nature 2016.

Widely acknowledged as one of the most influential and outspoken writers on issues such climate change and corporate power, Monbiot will discuss his charity’s ongoing work to reverse the loss of biodiversity, including the reintroduction of key missing species such as lynx and wolf.

He will also look at how to reignite people’s passion for the natural world and revitalise local economies in ways that work ecologically.

Many of these issues are covered in his 2013 bestselling book Feral: Searching for Enchantment on the Frontiers of Rewilding.

This is one of many workshops and exhibitions organised for the nature festival, which runs from June until early October.

Tickets for the event are available from the Subscription Rooms. £10.00 and concession £8.00.
